Anti-Aging Research A New Era of Science

Could Humans Live to 120?

Latest Anti-Aging Research. Do you ever think that it’s kinda crazy that we can order pizza from our cellphones and yet no one can figure out how to stop (or at least slow) the inevitable march towards death?  Well, you’re not alone. Science has been trying to figure out this whole ageing thing for a long time now. And a new development just could be one of those watershed moments in history. The very first anti-ageing drug in the world is prepared to be tested on human beings next year. As a result, the trials that could see diseases including Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, are consigned to a distant memory. Today, scientists believe that it’s possible to stop people from growing old quickly and help them live with good health well into their 120s or 110s.

A New Horizon

Latest Anti-Aging Research. Even if it seems like science fiction, some researchers have proven that Metformin, a drug for diabetes, extends the life of animals. And in the US, the FDA has now agreed to go ahead with the trials. Also, they can replicate the same effects in human beings. And, if successful, it just means persons in their 70s will be as healthy as a fifty-year-old. After, scientists could use it in a whole new era of geosciences. And where the doctors would never fight against individual conditions such as dementia, diabetes, and cancer. But instead, treat ageing, which is an underlying mechanism.

Slowing Down Ageing

Slow Down Ageing

Latest Anti-Aging Research. Professor Gordon Lithgow, a Scottish ageing expert of Buck Institute for Research on Aging. Has stated that once you target the process of ageing and slow down ageing. So then, it will slow down the diseases as well as ageing’s pathology. Also, he added that this is revolutionary and never happened in the previous years. Furthermore, Lithgow also said that he has been researching for several years now. And the concept they’re trying to talk about, which is the clinical trials in human beings. Hence, anti-ageing drugs would’ve been inconceivable. However, there’s a good reason to believe that it is possible.

The Future

The future is taking the biology that they have now developed as well as implementing it to humans. But before, the process of ageing was a total mystery. However, with today’s advancement, many scientists and experts understand it slowly.

Understanding The Ageing Process

Ageing isn’t an inevitable part of one’s life. Because every cell contains a DNA blueprint that keeps the body functioning properly. Also, several marine creatures don’t age at all. But, over the lifetime, billions of cell divisions should occur to the body functioning correctly. And the more times the cells divide, the more issues creep in the process. As cell concerns grow, one’s body can’t repair the damage. In the case of cancer, the cells can’t prevent mutations, and the tumours start to grow. Furthermore, when it comes to Alzheimer’s disease, the brain gets rid of its system of clearing the sticky plaques. Hence, due to this, dementia starts to develop.

Overall

According to scientists, they are thinking of the best candidate for the anti-ageing drug. And they ended up with Metformin. Besides, it is the most widely used drug for diabetes globally, available at an affordable price. In addition, Metformin increases the oxygen molecules released into the cells, improving longevity and robustness. So then, when researchers tested Metformin on tiny roundworms, they not only aged slower but also stayed healthier longer. But, when they tried it on mice, nearly forty per cent of their lifespan was increased, and their bones became much more robust.

In Conclusion

Anti-ageing research is actively trying to improve life for us as we age into our later years. It is exciting research that could benefit many of us. So then, let’s hope it is successful, and we all get the chance to benefit from it. Consequently, living longer and remaining healthy is their aim, I am sure you want that too.
